Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Stockport and are not the council. About us
The Bramhall & Cheadle Hulme South Area Committee approved several grant applications from local organisations and made decisions on various traffic regulation orders. The committee also received updates on district centre action plans and noted reports on planning appeals and progress on previous decisions.
Community Engagement and Funding
The committee approved grant applications totalling £1,623.82 from the Ward Flexibility Funding budget. Come And Meet Each Other (CAMEO) received £540 towards afternoon entertainment and speakers for an event. Disability Opportunities in Sport UK (DOSportUK) CIC was granted £200 to support Stockport Jets Basketball sessions for individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism. The Parochial Church Council Of The Ecclesiastical Parish Of St. Michael And All Angels Bramhall received £1,000 towards hosting a community arts festival. Finally, the Stockport Armed Forces Breakfast Club was awarded £83.82 for fundraising and publicity materials to combat isolation and loneliness among veterans.
Traffic Regulation Orders
Several Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) were discussed and decided upon:
- Dawlish Close/Brixham Walk, Bramhall: The committee approved the undertaking of a consultation and legal advertisement for the introduction of TROs to formalise and enable enforcement of waiting restrictions (double yellow lines). This measure aims to improve access and road safety, particularly for pedestrians and children attending Pownall Green Primary School.
- Ramillies Estate, Cheadle Hulme: Following objections, the committee amended proposed 'No Waiting At Any Time' restrictions on Blenheim Road. Restrictions on the eastern side between Cranbourne Avenue and Musbury Avenue will now be 'No Waiting at Times Shown' (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm). Similarly, restrictions on the western side between Monmouth Road and Sedgemoor Close will also be 'No Waiting at Times Shown' during the same hours. This amendment aims to reduce the impact on residents and visitors while still addressing parking issues.
- Integrated Transport Block – A6 to Bramhall Park: The committee recommended that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services consider increasing the extent of double yellow lines at the junction of Hillcrest Road and Bridge Lane. They also recommended reassessing the appropriateness of double yellow lines on Bridge Lane between Headlands Road and Valley Road. The Cabinet Member was also recommended to approve the remainder of the proposed measures and their legal advertising, subject to no objections. These measures aim to address road safety issues identified after the introduction of a cycleway.

The report was noted.

The Woodford Garden Village site as a whole was nominated as a reserve. Councillors Dallas Jones and Suzanne Wyatt were nominated to attend the tour.
- Park Use Application - Bramhall Park - Plant Hunters Fair: The application from the Friends of Bramhall Park to hold their Plant Hunters Fair on 11 September 2024 was granted, subject to the organiser providing necessary paperwork, licences, health and safety documentation, insurance, a traffic management plan, and payment of fees.
