The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) was scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss a range of matters relating to religious education in the borough's schools. As well as considering the applications of Orchard Primary School for a determination on Religious Education, the meeting was also scheduled to receive updates on the body's membership and finances. There was to be a particular focus on planning for the following year, including a review of the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
Determinations
Two schools had applied for determinations on Religious Education.
Orchard Primary School
Orchard Primary School's application was scheduled to be considered for the first time during this meeting.
Ratifying determinations from the meeting of 08 July 2024
The meeting was also scheduled to ratify the decisions taken at its previous meeting on 8 July 2024 about determinations for two schools.
Heston Primary School
This school's determination was scheduled to be ratified.
Grove Road Primary School
This school's determination was also scheduled to be ratified.
Agreed Syllabus Review
The meeting was scheduled to discuss plans for the review of the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education in the borough. SACRE is a statutory body set up to advise the local authority on matters related to RE. Among other duties, SACREs are responsible for producing a syllabus setting out the way RE should be taught in the borough.
According to the agenda, the meeting was scheduled to receive an update on the situation with Advisor
. It was also scheduled to discuss writing plans, and the possibility of holding an 'Agreed Syllabus Conference' in the next year.
Welcome New Members
The meeting was scheduled to welcome new members.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The meeting was scheduled to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, which was held on 8 July 2024. The minutes can be found here: 08 07 2024 SACRE Meeting Minutes.
Finances
The meeting was scheduled to receive an update on the body's finances from Tim Hallett.
Freedom of Information
The meeting was also scheduled to discuss Freedom of Information. Freedom of Information law gives members of the public the right to request access to information held by public bodies.
Membership Update
An update on the body's membership was scheduled to be provided. This included updates on the representation of Church of England and teacher representatives on the body.
Plans for the Next Year
The meeting was scheduled to discuss plans for the following year.

- courses being provided by the National Association of Standing Advisory Councils for Religious Education (NASACRE)
Local Updates
Finally, the meeting was scheduled to be updated on local matters. This was to include updates on both the Primary and Secondary RE Networks, as well as an update on training.
The meeting was also scheduled to set the date for its next meeting.
