The Caerphilly Standing Advisory Council on Religion, Values and Ethics were scheduled to receive a verbal update from the RVE Advisor, a draft of the annual report for 2023/2024, and discuss Holocaust Memorial Day 2025.
The meeting was also scheduled for verbal updates on several other topics.
Draft SACRE/SAC on RVE Annual Report 2023/2024
Councillors were scheduled to receive the draft Annual Report of the Caerphilly Standing Advisory Council for Religion, Values and Ethics.
The report summarises the work that had been undertaken by the council between Autumn 2023 and Summer 2024.
One of the key roles of The Standing Advisory Council on Religion, Values and Ethics is to oversee the teaching of Religious Education in their area. The report describes how they do this:
SACRE/SAC has adopted several strategies for monitoring standards being achieved in religious education and Religion, Values and Ethics in the Authority’s schools including the following:
The report goes on to list several activities that Caerphilly SAC on RVE undertook in order to fulfil this responsibility, including reviewing school inspection reports, analysing examination results and keeping up to date with relevant developments in Welsh Government.
They also received an update from an Estyn inspection at Cwrt Rawlin Primary School
T. Lloyd, Headteacher of Cwrt Rawlin Primary School gave Members an overview of their Estyn inspection which took place in April 2024.
The report describes a number of ways in which the council provides support and professional learning to teachers, including:
- The availability of Farmington Scholarships
- Guidance on Holocaust Memorial Day resources

Holocaust Memorial Day 2025
The council were scheduled to receive a verbal update on Holocaust Memorial Day 2025.
