The Licensing Sub Committee (Taxis) met to consider two applications for the review of a taxi driver's licence and an application for the grant of a new licence. The meeting was not open to the public.

Review of a hackney carriage / private hire driver's licence

The committee was scheduled to review the licence of a driver licensed by a neighbouring local authority following a report by a West Mercia Police officer. PC Howard alleges that:

On 20th August 2024 at 03:20hrs whilst off duty I was travelling as a single female in Birmingham. I had been out with friends and was travelling home. I booked a taxi on the ABC Taxis app.

Because the alleged incident took place outside of the jurisdiction of Redditch Borough Council, the committee was scheduled to consider whether the driver's fitness was such that it would be inappropriate to continue to allow the driver to hold a licence, in accordance with Section 51 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

Review of a hackney carriage / private hire driver's licence

The committee was scheduled to review the licence of a driver licensed by Redditch Council. The committee report included a letter from a member of the public alleging that the driver used threatening behaviour towards her.

Application for grant of a licence to use a vehicle as a Private Hire

The committee was scheduled to consider an application for the grant of a licence to use a vehicle as a private hire vehicle. Worcestershire Regulatory Services objected to the application because the applicant had failed to disclose a speeding offence when applying for the licence.
