The agenda for this meeting suggested it would be concerned primarily with planning applications. The committee were also due to receive an update on planning appeals.
The most significant item on the agenda, based on the length of the report, was a proposal for the change of use of a house in Shaw to become a residential children’s home.
FUL/353462/24 - 3A Underwood Way, Shaw, OL2 8LF
The application, submitted by Safe Children's Care Limited, proposed changing the use of the property from a residential dwelling to a home for up to three children in the care system between the ages of 7 and 17. The report noted that:
The application has been referred to Planning Committee by the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport, and Housing Delivery given the significant public interest generated by the publicity given to the application.
The report went on to describe the proposal in detail and to summarise the responses from consultees. The Council received 104 representations in response to the application, of which 103 objected to it on a variety of planning grounds. The report considered each of these objections in turn.

Mrs Sughra Begum submitted this application for a part single storey part two storey rear extension and a single storey side extension to her property. No representations were received by the council during the consultation period for the application. The report noted that:
In accordance with the requirements of the Council’s Constitution and Scheme of Delegation, the application has been referred to Planning Committee for determination given that the Applicant is related to Elected Member Councillor Sajed Hussain.

Mr Abdul Karim submitted this application for the erection of a part single/part two storey rear extension to his property. The report noted that:
In accordance with the requirements of the Council’s Constitution and Scheme of Delegation, the application has been referred to Planning Committee for determination given that the Applicant is related to Elected Member Councillor Abdul Jabar.
