Request support for Solihull
We're not currently able to provide detailed weekly summaries for Solihull Council. We need support from the council to:
- Ensure we can reliably access and process council meeting information
- Cover the costs of processing and summarizing council data
- Maintain and improve the service for residents
You can help make this happen!
Contact your councillors to let them know you want Solihull Council to support Open Council Network. This will help ensure residents can stay informed about council decisions and activities.

December 17, 2024 View on council website Watch video of meetingSummary
This meeting will provide an update on how Adult Social Care is performing in Solihull, as well as discussing the support available to those with dementia in the borough. The meeting will also receive an update on the delivery of the Birmingham and Solihull Dementia Strategy 2023-28, which is a joint strategy between Solihull Council, Birmingham City Council, and the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board.
Adult Social Care Performance
The meeting will receive a report on the performance of adult social care services in Solihull for Quarter 2 of the 2024/25 financial year. The report measures performance against the Department of Health and Social Care's Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF). The report covers a range of measures, including the number of people receiving long-term support, the number of people admitted to residential or nursing care homes, the number of people receiving self-directed support, and the number of safeguarding enquiries.
The report also notes the national recruitment difficulties encountered for both Social Work and Occupational Therapy roles.
National recruitment issues affecting both Social Work and Occupational Therapy teams continue to be a challenge.
Dementia Support
The meeting will receive a report on the progress that has been made on the Cabinet Portfolio Holder's priority of improving the support offered to people with dementia. This report covers the council's progress toward the Birmingham and Solihull Dementia Strategy 2023-28, a joint strategy with Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care System.
The report highlights the increase in waiting times for dementia diagnoses, and that
In March 2024, Birmingham and Solihull’s dementia referral to diagnosis waiting time was the worst in England.
In response, a referral pathway has been developed with the Memory Assessment Service, Dementia Connect, and Solihull Active to help those on the waiting list access physical and social activities.
The report also discusses the council's work to improve its information and advice on dementia, the introduction of the Respite at Home service, and a review of Technology Enabled Care.
The report identifies the need to improve the council's My Solihull Maps service and to work with the council's transport team to develop dementia-friendly transport options.
