Request support for Westmorland and Furness
We're not currently able to provide detailed weekly summaries for Westmorland and Furness Council. We need support from the council to:
- Ensure we can reliably access and process council meeting information
- Cover the costs of processing and summarizing council data
- Maintain and improve the service for residents
You can help make this happen!
Contact your councillors to let them know you want Westmorland and Furness Council to support Open Council Network. This will help ensure residents can stay informed about council decisions and activities.
If you represent a council or business, or would be willing to donate to support this service, please contact us at community@opencouncil.network.

December 16, 2024 View on council websiteSummary
This meeting of the Regulatory Sub-Committee was scheduled to consider one item in a closed session, and three applications for taxi operators to be exempt from taxi licensing rules.
Applications to Depart from Policy in relation to Executive Hire Vehicles
Lakeside Travel Services submitted three applications for exemptions from the council's Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle policy. The applications were for exemptions from the requirement for private hire vehicles to display licence plates and livery. The applications were made under the council's Executive Hire policy.
The applications relate to the following vehicles:
- Mercedes Benz V220 SE registration number N21 LTS.
- BMW 730D M Sport, registration number N23 LTS
- Mercedes Benz E220 AMG Line, registration number CR15 LTS.
In their application, Lakeside Travel Services said:
The type of work these vehicles do is mainly airport transfers, tours, restaurant transfers and weddings.
They added that they:
…work with all the top hotels in the Lake District including, Low Wood Bay, Low Wood Bay, Gilpin, Gilpin, Linthwaite House and The Lakes Hotel and Spa.
We have been doing this kind of work for over 10 years now and have built an impressive reputation, we would like to carry on providing this service for the people of the Lake District, whether they live here, or just visiting.
The Sub-Committee's report pack says that, in considering the applications, they are recommended to consider South Lakeland District Council's Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy 2022, as Westmorland and Furness Council had not, at the time of the meeting, finalised a new policy.
Application for a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence
The Sub-Committee were scheduled to consider an application for a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence in a closed session.
