The Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee will be provided with reports on the Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board's activities throughout 2023/24 and the Council's proposed Adult Social Care budget for 2025/26. A report will also be provided on the Committee's work programme.

Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board

The Committee will be provided with a report on the activities of the Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) during 2023/24. The report details the work undertaken by the SAB and provides an update on its progress against the priorities in its 2022-25 strategic plan.

The report states that:

As the Strategic Plan is now in its final year, the SAB will be glad to share its development of the next version with the Committee in due course for its input.

It also notes that, as a non-statutory partner, the Probation Service will no longer contribute funding to the SAB from 2025/26.

The report outlines the number of Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs) commissioned. It explains that the SAB sought assurances from partners that recommendations arising from SARs were implemented to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. In particular, following the case of Valdo Calocane, who killed three people in Nottingham in June 2023, the SAB will wait for the conclusion of separate reviews by other bodies before deciding whether to commission a separate SAR.

The report describes the SAB's engagement with communities and individuals who are typically considered harder to reach , how it compares to other SABs nationally, and how it manages the transition of cases from the Safeguarding Children Partnership (SCP).

Adult Social Care Budget Proposals 2025-26

A report will be provided on the Adult Social Care budget for 2025-26.
