The Corporate Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel of Bath and North East Somerset Council met on Tuesday 25 March 2025 to review financial performance, estate management, and company updates. Discussions were scheduled to cover the council's budget monitoring, the performance of its commercial and corporate estates, and an update on the Aequus company.
Aequus Performance Update
The panel was scheduled to receive an update on the performance of Aequus, a wholly owned group of companies established by the council under the Localism Act 2011[^1]. The report was expected to detail the company's performance for the 2024/25 financial year against its 2024-2030 Business Plan objectives. A key focus was the company's financial performance, with an anticipated annual £1 million financial return to the council. The report was also set to outline progress on various sites, noting that while sites were progressing, challenges remained in achieving a start on site
position due to viability, planning, and decision-making hurdles. The company's commitment to climate change objectives, including building new developments to EPC A energy efficiency ratings, was also to be discussed. The Aequus Performance Pack for Q4 2024/25 was provided
