The Calne Area Board met to elect a chair and vice-chair, and to appoint a representative to the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG). Councillor Ashley O'Neill was elected as Chairman, Councillor Sam Pearce-Kearney as Vice-Chairman, and Councillor Ashley O'Neill was also appointed as the Area Board’s lead representative on the LHFIG.
Appointment of a Representative to the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG)
Councillor Ashley O'Neill was appointed as the Area Board’s lead representative on the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG). The LHFIG operates as an informal working group making recommendations to the Area Board for approval.
The terms of reference for the LHFIG state that it will normally be made up of:
- Members of the Area Board
- Town and Parish Council representatives
- Community / Stakeholder representatives
The LHFIG's terms of reference are:
- Small-scale transport schemes – discretionary funding To make recommendations to the Area Board to determine priorities and levels of expenditure required for small-scale transport schemes in the community area.
- Small scale transport schemes – substantive funding To submit bids for funding from the centrally held substantive funds.
The LHFIG can fund pedestrian improvements, cycle improvements, bus infrastructure, traffic signing, new road markings, speed limits, waiting restrictions, footpath improvements, drainage, street lighting, and traffic management measures. It cannot fund routine maintenance, service subsidy, promotional campaigns, SID equipment, or improvements for individuals and properties.
Election of Vice-Chairman
Councillor Sam Pearce-Kearney was elected as Vice-Chairman for the forthcoming year. Councillor Ian Thorn seconded the nomination.
Election of Chairman
Councillor Ashley O’Neill was elected as Chairman for the forthcoming year. Councillor Sam Pearce-Kearney nominated Councillor Ashley O’Neill, and Councillor Augusta Urquhart-Nicholls seconded the nomination.
