The Arun District Council Planning Committee met on 28 August 2025 to discuss a planning appeal regarding a development on Bewley Road, Angmering. Bewley Road Planning Appeal

The Planning Committee considered how to progress the appeal against the refusal of planning permission at Bewley Road, Angmering. The Group Head of Planning presented the report, along with an update circulated to members on 27 August 2025. Following a debate and questions from committee members, the committee voted to approve Option One as set out in the report. Councillors Billy Blanchard-Cooper, Shirley Haywood (Substituting for Councillor June Hamilton), Paul Kelly, Martin Lury, Mike Northeast, Peggy Partridge, Ash Patel, Guy Purser (Substituting for Councillor Richard Bower), Sue Wallsgrove and Bob Woodman voted in favour of the recommendation.

Declarations of Interest

Several councillors declared interests due to their membership of town or parish councils, or West Sussex County Council. These were recorded on a Declaration of Interest Sheet. The councillors who declared an interest were Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper, Councillor Martin Lury, Councillor June Hamilton, Councillor Mike Northeast, Councillor Peggy Partridge, Councillor Ash Patel, Councillor Freddie Tandy, and Councillor Sue Wallsgrove.

The Committee agreed to exclude the public and press from a portion of the meeting, as it was likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972¹. Councillor Guy Purser proposed the recommendation, and Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper seconded it.
