Area Committee 03 - Monday, 15th September, 2025 12.00 pm
September 15, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Area Committee 03 meeting included a discussion on local priorities, updates from Bristol City Council departments, and a community liaison segment for Bristol University. The committee also reviewed public forum submissions, including concerns about electric vehicle charging and cycle path infrastructure.
Public Forum
The meeting included a public forum, with a 30-minute allowance for statements, questions, and petitions related to the committee's responsibilities.
Two statements were submitted for the public forum:
- Sarah Halligan wrote to highlight the limited access to electric vehicle (EV) charging for residents without off-street parking. She encouraged the council to implement steps to make EV charging more widely available, stating that:
Specifically, the Council's current position, which explicitly rules out the use of cable gullies or other cross-pavement charging solutions, blocks many residents from charging at home and makes it significantly less desirable for them to switch to an electric vehicle.
She suggested a pilot site in [Cliftonwood](https://www.google.com/maps/search/Cliftonwood+Bristol+City+Council/)[^2]/[Hotwells](https://www.google.com/maps/search/Hotwells+Bristol+City+Council/).[^3] She indicated that she would not be attending the meeting.
Dan Ackroyd raised concerns about the accessibility of area committee information, the online meeting format, and the proposed cycle paths connecting Richmond Hill and Park Place to the Queens Road cycle path. He stated that he had not received a response from the 'Local Transport Manager' after sending two emails detailing his concerns, which included:
- Sharp corners on the 'dog-leg' cycle path that may impede cyclists passing each other.
- Blind corners at pedestrian crossings on the cycle path.
- Lack of space for storing Tier scooters.
Dan Ackroyd indicated that he would be attending the meeting to speak.
