September 24, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to meet on Wednesday 24 September 2025 to discuss its work programme for the coming year and to nominate members to the West Yorkshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The meeting was also scheduled to include discussion of any referrals to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee Work Programme 2025/26
The committee was scheduled to review and comment on its work programme for 2025/26, as detailed in Appendix A of the HSCOSC Work programme covering report. The report noted that the committee is required to prepare a work programme under the council's constitution1. The report also noted that best practice suggests that work programmes should be regularly reviewed, so that important or urgent issues that come up during the year are able to be scrutinised. The work programme included the following agenda items for future meetings:
- October 2025: A briefing on the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership Plan from Clare Smart, and a CQC2 update from Iain Macbeath.
- November 2025: A report from Dr Sohail Abbas on work being done across the district to address health inequalities, and an update on the Living Well and Food Strategy from Rose Dunlop and Tim Howells.
- December 2025: A report on mental health and wellbeing from Sasha Bhat.
- January 2026: A report on the draft Public Health Strategy from Andrew Taylor, and an update on Preparation for Adulthood and Transitions from Elaine James and Fazeela Hafejee.
- February 2026: The Bradford and Craven Health and Care Partnership Annual Report from Clare Smart.
- March 2026: A commissioning update and intentions for adult social care in 2025 from Jane Wood, and a report on Airedale General Hospital from Stuart Shaw.
The report recommended that the committee continue to regularly review the work programme during the year.
West Yorkshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee
The committee was scheduled to nominate two members to sit on the West Yorkshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The previous committee had nominated two members at a meeting on 29 October 2015, but as the committee had since been reconstituted, there was now a need to appoint two members to sit on the Joint Committee.
