The Grants Sub-Board was scheduled to meet to discuss community, heritage, and event grant applications. The Sub-Board was expected to review the applications and project updates, and determine grant awards. The meeting was to be held in the Council Chamber.
Community Grant Fund Applications
The Grants Sub-Board was scheduled to consider several community grant fund applications. A report in the public reports pack outlined that there was a total of £104,655 remaining in the 2025/26 Community Fund, which included £45,306 from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Neighbourhood Fund1. The report contained details of twelve grant applications, with two deferrals from Grant Round 10, for consideration:
Lee Rangers Youth Football Club - £2,775 for coach development and an under-18s referee course. The club aimed to use the funding to provide UEFA C coaching for three coaches and offer introductory referee courses to five children. The club stated that this project would:
enhance the skills and opportunities for both coaches and young aspiring referees within the community...strengthen the grassroots football infrastructure, promote lifelong involvement in the sport, and encourage leadership and responsibility among young people.
Tribe Alternative Stage School CIC - £4,450 for an alternative stage school in Gosport. The organisation planned to work with young people and their families, using creative and wellbeing tools, to increase resilience and prevent mental health conditions. The group stated that they would offer:
8 months of activities in Gosport animating community spaces, building confidence in accessing/using these places (and associated support networks), working closely local partners; signposting to other services and enabling legacy for attenders/partners.
The PCC2 of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Marys with St Faith and St Francis, Alverstoke - £3,500 for the St Faiths Hub Loft Project. The project aimed to seal the current loft hatch and ladder access, board the storage area above the kitchen, and provide a staircase. The group stated that this would:
provide access for storage for St Faiths Hub families needing provisions...We are recycling, repurposing clothes, toys, items going to landfill having a 2nd or 3rd reuse.
Pop-up Spray Studios CIC - £4,904.80 for a community collaboration mural. The project proposed to create a large-scale mural, inspired by Gosport's community and heritage, and offer free creative workshops to the public and local organisations. The group stated that:
We aim to enhance community space by creating a large scale, eye-catching mural inspired by Gosport's heritage and shaped by local voices...Our hope is that everyone will see a reflection of themselves and their experiences within the mural.
Suki Aerobic Gymnastics Club - £3,000 for aerobic training and a competitive floor. The club sought funding to replace its existing aerobic gym floor, which it said was over 25 years old and becoming too difficult to use. The club stated that:
This will give SUKI the training equipment to be able to carry out routine and competition gymnastics. without a suitable gym floor SUKI wouldn't be able to run and offer members adequate vital training.
Heron United - £1,800 for Project 56. Heron United provides a safe space for adults of all backgrounds, promoting unity, wellbeing, and community pride. The group stated that they would use the grant to:
provide a safe space for adults of all backgrounds, promoting unity, wellbeing, and community pride—honouring our father's lifelong legacy in Gosport through inclusive outreach and sport.
Friends of Crescent Garden - £4,000 for the installation of a shed and electrical feeder pillar. The project aimed to upgrade the electrics and provide storage for garden equipment. The group stated that:
The project will make the electrical system safer...The shed will provide storage for our equipment such as ladders, tents, tables, electrical tools onsite as at the moment these items have to be housed in premises away from the Garden.
22Midnight - £4,500 for The Gosport Story: A Community Tapestry. The project proposed to invite local people to share their personal connections to the town through stitched squares, creating a collective artwork. The group stated that:
The Gosport Story enhances community spaces by creating a vibrant, handmade tapestry that will rotate through public venues such as GMAG, YourSpace, Youth Haven, and GBC etc.
The Brendoncare Foundation - £1,500 for physical activity equipment at The Gosport Hub. The Gosport Hub brings older people together, offering social and physical activities. The group stated that:
The Brendoncare Gosport Hub enhances community spaces by providing a safe, welcoming place where older people can come together, make friends, and feel part of a supportive community.
Gosport Borough Cricket Club - £2,823.50 for a club revamp. The project aimed to replace the worn furniture in the clubhouse. The club stated that:
This would benefit the local community as it will enhance the cricket pavilion which is open throughout the year. It will provide a community space for all our members that continues to be an inviting and safe space.
Big Noise Community Samba Band - £3,350 for a new look. The project aimed to refresh the band's image and community presence by purchasing new uniforms and accessories. The group stated that:
New uniform will present a bold, vibrant image of the band, enhancing the events we attend...Big Noise is a 'Community' Samba Band – new uniform will strengthen identity and togetherness.
Friends of Leesland Park - £599.99 for a picnic bench.
Heritage Fund Applications
The Grants Sub-Board was also scheduled to consider two heritage fund applications, as detailed in the public reports pack. The report stated that there was a total of £66,700 remaining in the Heritage Fund for 2025/2026.
The applications were:
- 84 North Street - £50,000 for Crown Inn refurbishment. Crown Mews (Gosport) Management Company Limited sought funding for repairs and improvements to the pitched and flat roofs, and replacement of glazed terracotta tiles on the north elevation of the Crown Inn. The building is a listed building within the High Street Conservation Area3. The company stated that: > Crown Inn is set in a prominent position when accessing the High Street from the Clarence Road/North Cross Street sides. It is the most prominent listed building adjacent the High Street.
- The Military Heritage Museum - £3,851 for a rolling heritage makeover. The museum sought funding to enhance its mobile exhibit with a full respray and add a gazebo, power bank, screen, and projector to improve outdoor military film screenings and event readiness. The museum stated that: > Project Rolling Heritage Makeover will significantly enhance public access and interpretation by improving the visual appeal and functionality of the museum trailer.
Community Event Grant Fund Applications
The Grants Sub-Board was scheduled to consider one community event grant fund application, as detailed in the public reports pack. The report stated that there was a total of £4,260 remaining in the 2025/26 Community Event Fund.
The application was:
Thread Snake Collective - £930 for a Goose Town Release Party. Thread Snake Collective sought funding for a music event to celebrate the release of an album inspired by growing up in Gosport. The event was scheduled to take place at A Slice of Vinyl Record Shop, Stoke Road. The group stated that:
This event will offer local musicians a rare opportunity to network in a relaxed setting with folk artists and songwriters from London — artists who might not typically perform in Gosport.
