The Hampshire County Council convened to confirm the minutes of their previous meeting and to bestow the title of Honorary Alderman on two former councillors. Councillors voted to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on both Adrian Collett and Rob Humby in recognition of their service to the council.
Honorary Aldermen
The main item of business was to consider conferring the title of Honorary Alderman on two former councillors, Adrian Collett and Rob Humby. The title of Honorary Alderman is a formal recognition of eminent service to the council, as defined by Section 249 of the Local Government Act 19721.
The council resolved to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on both Adrian Collett and Rob Humby.
Adrian Collett served as a councillor for 42 years, representing various divisions including Farnborough West and Yateley East & Blackwater. During his tenure, he held several key positions, including Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, and served on committees such as the Policy and Resources Select Committee and the Employment in Hampshire County Council Committee. He also sat on the Police Authority for a number of years.
Rob Humby served as a councillor from 2013 to 2024, representing the Bishops Waltham Division. He held cabinet positions from May 2017 to May 2024, including Executive Member for Environment and Transport and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment. He was also Deputy Leader of the Council and later Leader of the Council.

The minutes of the previous Special County Council Meeting held on 28 November 2024 were confirmed as an accurate record and signed by Councillor Mark Cooper, Chairman of the Council.

Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 allows local authorities in England and Wales to grant the title of Honorary Alderman or Honorary Freemen to individuals who have provided eminent service to the council. ↩
