Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Powys and are not the council. About us
This meeting of the Questions at Any Time to Cabinet Portfolio Holders of Powys Council was scheduled to consider questions submitted by councillors to the cabinet.
The only item on the agenda was a question from County Councillor Claire Hall to County Councillor James Gibson-Watt, Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, regarding post-16 education.
Post-16 Education
County Councillor Claire Hall asked County Councillor James Gibson-Watt questions about the review of post-16 education, specifically regarding the proposal to remove sixth form provision from Crickhowell High School.
County Councillor Claire Hall asked for evidence that removing sixth form provision from Crickhowell High School would lead to:
- the optimisation of resources
- a reduction in operational costs
- improved resource allocation
She also asked how the removal of Crickhowell High School sixth form would result in a reduced duplication of subjects.
In addition, County Councillor Claire Hall asked which subjects are duplicated across Brecon High School, Crickhowell High School and Gwernyfed High School, and how many students take each of these subjects in each of the high school sixth forms.
Finally, County Councillor Claire Hall asked where to find the data on where learners go after completing their GCSEs at Brecon, Crickhowell and Gwernyfed High Schools.
