October 9, 2025 View on council website Watch video of meetingSummary
The South West Local Area Committee is scheduled to meet on 9 October 2025 at Dore Methodist Church. The agenda includes a presentation on Sheffield City Council's decision making and governance structure, a public engagement session, and a report on the South West Local Area Committee budget. The committee is also scheduled to discuss public questions and petitions.
South West Local Area Committee Budget Report
The committee is scheduled to review a report from the Community Services Manager regarding the South West Local Area Committee's budget. The report details spending decisions made by the Community Services Manager, in consultation with Councillor Andrew Sangar, Chair of the South West Local Area Committee, in accordance with a delegation granted in September 2021.
The report recommends the allocation of the budget and proposed expenditure for 2025/26, focusing on priority themes identified as key for the South West area.
The report states that:
Spending decisions made by the Community Services Manager under the authority delegated by the LAC in October 2024 are required to be reported to the next LAC meeting so that the LAC can monitor its delegated budget and delivery of the Community Plan. The further expenditure and proposed use of funding under delegated authority outlined in the report addresses local priorities within the Community Plan.
The committee is scheduled to note the expenditure against the £100,000 budget allocated to address local priorities in the South West Community Plan LAC in 2025/26. They are also scheduled to agree to the proposed allocated expenditure of the £100,000 budget for the year 2025/26 to address the local priorities in the South West LAC.
Crime and Community Safety Priorities
At the previous meeting of the South West Local Area Committee held on 3 July 2025, crime and community safety priorities were discussed. Those in attendance included Inspector Amy Mellor from South Yorkshire Police, Inspector Nik Dodsworth from South Yorkshire Police, and Katie Dearnley from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority [SYMCA]1.
Inspector Amy Mellor stated that the Sharrow Neighbourhood Policing Team had grown by 50% and their priorities were knife crime and neighbourhood crime. Inspector Nik Dodsworth stated that anti-social behaviour was being targeted at Westminster Shops, and both anti-social behaviour and fly tipping at Hagg Hill and the allotments.
Katie Dearnley confirmed that the Mayoral Authority was responsible for the production of the Police and Crime Plan and the management of the Policing Budget, and ensuring the Police met agreed priorities.
Public Engagement Session
The agenda includes an open session for residents to share views and questions with Policy Committee members.
