Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Powys and are not the council. About us
The Questions at Any Time to Cabinet Portfolio Holders meeting of Powys Council on 30 September 2025 was scheduled to address a question raised by County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe regarding the impact of removing bring sites for cardboard and small electrical items. County Councillor Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, was expected to respond. The agenda frontsheet and public reports pack contain the details of the question.
Recycling
County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe asked County Councillor Jackie Charlton for an update on the impact of removing recycling bring sites, following a visit to the Brecon depot and a tour of the recycling centre.
Specifically, County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe's question in the public reports pack asked:
- Has the Council recorded any change in levels of fly-tipping since the bring sites were removed?
- Has there been an increase in the number of businesses signing up to the Council's waste and recycling collection services, given that some businesses were previously using the bring sites free of charge to dispose of cardboard?
- If so, has this led to an increase in income to the Council?
