The report in the Public reports pack 10th-Oct-2025 Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys concerned a proposal to introduce a 40mph speed limit buffer zone on the B4520 Brecon Road, Builth Wells. According to the report, the developer of a new housing development off Brecon Road is required to introduce the 40mph speed limit as part of their planning conditions.
The report stated that the proposal was to introduce:
B4520 Brecon Road 40mph speed limit buffer zone from the existing 20mph terminal signs for a distance of 240m, in a southerly direction.
The consultation exercise and implementation of the proposal would be funded wholly by the developer, at a cost of £5000.
The report included a comment from Councillor Jeremy Pugh, who said that he was in support of the proposal.
The report recommended that Councillor Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, initiate the Traffic Regulation Order consultation procedure, and that if no substantive objections were received, the proposal be implemented.
