The Shareholder Committee of Ealing Council met on Monday 20 October 2025 to approve the accounts for Greener Ealing Limited for the financial year 2024/25 and to appoint the company's external auditors for the upcoming financial year. The committee agreed that the detailed accounts would remain confidential.
Greener Ealing Limited Accounts and Auditor Appointment
The Shareholder Committee approved the Greener Ealing Limited (GEL) accounts for the financial year 2024/25. The profit before taxation for this period amounted to £264,772, a decrease from the previous year's profit of £320,935. No dividends were paid during the reporting year. The committee also agreed to appoint Beever and Struthers as the external auditors for GEL for the financial year 2025/26. This appointment follows their role as auditors for the 2024/25 financial year.
The decision to approve the accounts and appoint the auditor was a requirement of the Shareholder Agreement, which was executed on 7 July 2025. The agreement mandates that the committee considers the company's accounts and auditor's report annually and appoints the auditor. The report noted that GEL is a significant employer within the borough, providing services in waste, recycling, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and parking enforcement, and that its operations contribute to the council's strategic objectives of creating good jobs, tackling the climate crisis, and fighting inequality.
The detailed financial statements for GEL for the year ending 31 March 2025 were designated as exempt from publication. This decision was made on the basis that they contained information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person, as permitted under paragraph 3 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972. The committee unanimously resolved to exclude the press and public from this part of the discussion to consider this exempt information.
The report was presented by Joe Blanchard, Assistant Director, Community Protection and Environment, and Catherina Pack, Head of Street Care and Waste Management. The recommendations were agreed by the committee, with no alternative options considered as these were statutory requirements. There were no direct financial implications for the council arising from this report.
The meeting was attended by Councillor Peter Mason (Leader of the Council), Councillor Louise Brett (Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Safe and Genuinely Affordable Homes), Councillor Stephen Donnelly (Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy), and Councillor Paul Driscoll (Cabinet Member for Climate Action). Also present were Tony Clements (Chief Executive), Joe Blanchard (Assistant Director Environment & Community Protection), and Rhian Davies (Director of Legal and Democratic Services) who attended online. Katarina Pohancenikova, Managing Director of Greener Ealing Ltd, and Petra Stephenson, Democratic Services Manager, were also in attendance.
