The Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Harrow Council met on Wednesday 20 May 2026 to appoint a Vice-Chair, establish sub-committees for the upcoming municipal year, and appoint scrutiny leads. Councillor Mike Williams was appointed as Vice-Chair, and the committee resolved to establish its sub-committees and appoint scrutiny lead members as detailed in the appendices to the minutes.

Appointment of Vice-Chair

Councillor Mike Williams was appointed as the Vice-Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the 2026/2027 Municipal Year.

Establishment of Sub-Committees 2026/27

The committee resolved to establish its sub-committees for the Municipal Year 2026/27. The memberships and chairs of these sub-committees were detailed in Appendix I of the minutes. These include the Call-In Sub-Committee, the Call-In Sub-Committee (Education), the Health and Social Care Scrutiny Sub-Committee, and the Performance and Finance Scrutiny Sub-Committee. The nominations for these sub-committees were determined in accordance with the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 and regulations made thereunder.

Appointment of Scrutiny Leads 2026/27

The Scrutiny Lead Members and their areas of responsibility for the 2026/27 municipal year were agreed, as set out in Appendix II of the minutes. These leads are responsible for Community, Health, People, and Resources.

The meeting, which commenced at 8:28 pm, concluded at 8:31 pm. No Reserve Members were in attendance, and no interests were declared by the councillors present.
