The Plans Sub-Committee No. 2 of Bromley Council met on Thursday 19 March 2026 to consider a range of planning applications. The meeting's agenda included discussions on five individual planning applications for residential properties and community facilities across the borough.
Planning Applications
The committee was scheduled to discuss five planning applications, each with specific proposals and considerations:
Woodland House, Chelsfield Lane, Orpington, BR6 7RP
This application concerned the demolition of an outbuilding and the erection of a detached, single-storey, four-bedroom self-build dwelling with an accessway on land to the rear of Woodland House. The proposal was called in by Councillor Tunnicliffe due to concerns about overdevelopment on back garden tennis courts impacting the neighbouring property, Shangri-La. The recommendation was to grant permission subject to a legal agreement.
Blenheim Children and Family Centre, Blenheim Road, Orpington, BR6 9BH
The proposal involved the construction of single-storey side, rear, and infill front extensions to the Blenheim Children and Family Centre. These extensions were intended to accommodate the relocation of Age Concern services, creating separate areas for both the Age Concern Centre and the Blenheim Children and Family Centre. The plans also included the installation of an air source heat pump, new fencing, reconfiguration of car parking, and landscaping. The recommendation was to grant permission.
Southmore Court, 437 Southborough Lane, Bromley, BR2 8BQ
This application sought permission for a four-storey front extension to Southmore Court, a residential care home providing sheltered housing. The extension was proposed to provide 10 additional rooms, a new communal room, meeting rooms, a lift, and a staircase, along with associated landscaping and storage facilities. Councillor Gupta called in the application, noting its potential benefit to residents and the lack of objections from trustees and residents. However, the recommendation was to refuse permission.
84 Copers Cope Road, Beckenham, BR3 1RJ
The committee was scheduled to consider the erection of a single-storey detached annex in the rear garden for ancillary residential use. Councillor Tickner called in the application due to concerns about backland development within an Area of Special Residential Character. The recommendation was to grant permission.
195 Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 3JW
This application proposed the construction of a single-storey outbuilding to be used as a garage and gym. Councillor Harris called in the application due to neighbours' concerns about the height and size of the proposed structure. The recommendation was to grant permission.
