Pension Fund Committee - Friday, 12th December, 2025 10.30 am
The Lancashire County Council Pension Fund Committee is scheduled to meet on 12 December 2025 to discuss a range of topics, including pension-related training for committee members, budget monitoring, responsible investments, and the Local Pensions Partnership annual report. The committee will also discuss the Funding Strategy Statement consultation, which is key to determining employer pension contribution rates for 2026-2029. Some items, including updates on the Lancashire County Pension Fund Strategic Plan, Local Pensions Partnership Administration, risk register, shareholder update, investment performance and investments in occupied territories, will be discussed in Part II of the meeting, which is not open to the press or public.
Children, Families and Skills Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025 10.30 am
The Children, Families and Skills Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the Principal Social Worker's annual report, focusing on workforce strategy, and the Families First programme, which aims to improve support for families through early intervention and integrated services. The committee noted the phased implementation plan for the Families First Programme and agreed to add a standing item on the programme to their work programme.
Budget and Finance Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 24th November, 2025 2.00 pm
The Budget and Finance Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the council's financial position, including the projected overspend for 2025/26, a preliminary assessment of the 2026/27 budget, and an efficiency review. The committee agreed to recommend to the cabinet that they arrange 45-minute meetings with each cabinet member before 21 January to allow members to scrutinise them at length. The committee also discussed the importance of explaining acronyms in reports, and the need for more detail in the mitigations section of the financial monitoring report.
Full Council - Thursday, 20th November, 2025 1.00 pm
The Full Council of Lancashire Council is scheduled to meet on 20 November 2025 to discuss local government reorganisation, committee appointments, and updates to the council's constitution. The meeting will also address questions from councillors and consider several notices of motion. Reports from the cabinet and various committees are also scheduled to be noted.
Children, Families and Skills Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 22nd October, 2025 10.30 am
The Children, Families and Skills Scrutiny Committee met to discuss corporate parenting, the Lancashire House Project, and the Where Our Children Live programme, and to review the committee's work programme for the coming year. The committee agreed to review the Corporate Parenting Strategy in April 2026, prior to its submission to the cabinet in October 2026, and requested an update on cohort four of the Lancashire House Project in spring 2026. The committee also requested that Lancashire County Council liaise with district councils to reduce the number of private care homes.
