Themed, Council - Monday 10th November 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting scheduled for 10 November 2025 included discussion of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee’s work programme, a themed report on growth, and the East London Joint Waste Plan. Councillors were also expected to discuss motions relating to housing and developer contributions, and to answer questions from both the public and council members. The council was also scheduled to hear from Sunder Katwala of British Futures on the work of the Commission for the Future of Belonging & Inclusion in Newham.

Chief Officer Appointment Committee - Friday 24th October 2025 2.00 p.m.

The Chief Officer Appointment Committee was scheduled to meet to discuss the recruitment of several chief officer positions, and the process for recruiting a permanent Chief Executive. The committee was asked to agree on the size and membership of sub-committees responsible for these appointments. The meeting was also scheduled to discuss delegating the appointment of a non-statutory Chief Officer to a panel of officers.

Council - Thursday 9th October 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 9 October 2025 included discussion of gambling regulation, temporary accommodation safeguarding, and updates from scrutiny committees. The council approved the appointment of three co-opted members to the Standards Committee, and also received updates on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee's work programme.

Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee - Tuesday 22nd July 2025 1.30 p.m.

The Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee convened to interview candidates for the position of Director of Housing Services. The recommendation of the sub-committee was scheduled to be subject to consultation with Cabinet members. Councillors were also expected to declare any interests they may have in the matters being considered.

Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee - Friday 18th July 2025 11.30 a.m.

The Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee convened to interview candidates for the position of Corporate Director of Adults and Health, but ultimately decided not to make an appointment. The committee interviewed two candidates, but after careful consideration, concluded that neither was suitable for the role.
