The Cabinet of Tower Hamlets decided on 28/01/2026 to approve the procurement and delivery of 148 new social rented homes across five schemes. The Cabinet of Tower Hamlets Council noted the Record of Corporate Director's Actions for Quarter 2 of the 2025/26 financial year on 28 January 2026. The report detailed several contract extensions and maintenance agreements approved by Corporate Directors. These included a charging point maintenance contract for Chargy, extensions for Family Hubs services provided by Speech and Language UK, Sister Circle, and Toy House Libraries, and a control systems service contract for Johnson Controls.

The Cabinet of Tower Hamlets Council approved the Budget Report 2026-27 and Medium-Term Financial Strategy 2026-29 on 28 January 2026. The decision included proposing a General Fund Revenue Funding Requirement of £487.758m for 2026-27 and approving a 2% Adult Social Care precept and a 2.99% increase on the general Council Tax element. The Cabinet also approved housing rent and service charge increases, including a 4.8% increase for housing rents, and agreed to continue the National Schools Funding Formula.

This decision involved a departure from the Council's VCS Premises Policy. The decision included offering a 10-year community benefit rent reduction grant to both organisations, resulting in no rent being payable.
