Freedom of the Borough, Council - Friday, 21st November, 2025 3.00 pm
Islington Council held a special meeting to award the Freedom of the Borough to Arsenal Women's Football Club in recognition of their UEFA Women's Champions League win in 2024-25. The motion was proposed, seconded, and then supported by several councillors, before being passed unanimously. Representatives from Arsenal Women's Football Club attended the meeting to accept the award.
Licensing Committee - Thursday, 13th November, 2025 6.30 pm
The Islington Council Licensing Committee was scheduled to meet on 13 November 2025 to discuss the draft Islington Gambling Policy, and Islington's Experience Economy, and to review their work programme for the coming year.
Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 21st October, 2025 7.30 pm
The Environment, Climate Change and Transport Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the findings of the Scrutiny Review on Waste Reduction and Household Recycling, hearing evidence on recycling data and performance, service structure and resourcing, and collection services and methods including food waste. The committee also discussed the 2025-6 Committee Work Plan, agreeing to highlight that Lyman Forest Bike will be attending the next committee.
Licensing Sub Committee D - Thursday, 16th October, 2025 6.30 pm
The Licensing Sub Committee D meeting included discussion of a new premises licence for Nisa Local, a premises licence variation for Pizza Hut, and a new premises licence for ShamRock. Councillor Clare Jeapes, Recycling Champion, was scheduled to chair the meeting. Councillors Nurullah Turan and Phil Graham were also scheduled to be in attendance.
Planning Sub Committee B - Monday, 6th October, 2025 7.30 pm
The Islington Council Planning Sub-Committee B convened to discuss and approve a planning application for improvements to Wilfred Fienburgh Court, a council-owned residential estate. The approved plans include installing security gates and railings, relocating refuse bins to a new secure store, and repositioning the vehicle barrier. Councillors voted unanimously to approve the application, subject to conditions outlined in the officer's report.
