AI Policy

To bring forward an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy for the organisation.   The policy has been created to outline the council’s AI governance, responsibilities, risk management and operational processes. It applies to all council officers, Councillors, contractors and subcontractors.    The policy has been subject to 30 day consultation with staff and the council’s recognised trade unions.   Following consideration at the General Purposes Committee, the policy has now been reviewed by the Cabinet.

Tenancy Strategy and Tenant Management Policy

In accordance with policy and legislative changes,  cabinet proposed updates to Thanet District Council’s Tenancy Strategy and Tenant Management Policy.  Last updated in 2022, these revisions ensure compliance with recent legislative changes and align with current social and housing data to address local needs.

Warm Homes Local Grant - proposal to distribute grant award

Warm Homes Local Grant (WHLG) is a Government funded scheme with the ambition of upgrading five million homes over the next three-to-five years to cut bills for families and deliver warmer homes to reduce fuel poverty. It will also help with reducing carbon emissions in support of the net zero target by 2050.   Following a rigorous bidding process, Thanet District Council has been awarded £1.5m in grant. This is split out as indicated below:   ·  2025/26 - £475,050.00 ·  2026/27 - £542,070.00 ·  2027/28 - £531,100.00 ·  TOTAL - £1,548,220.00

Youth Services Provision Scrutiny Review Report

On 24 April 2025 Cabinet was presented with the findings of the Youth Service Provision Review Working Party which looked into youth provision in Thanet and how Thanet District Council could support such provisions in the district, taking into consideration the functions a district council could provide. This scrutiny review led to some findings and proposals being put forward for Cabinet consideration and response as well as senior management comments. Cabinet agrees with the importance of engaging and supporting young people.

Thanet Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (TCWIP)

Cabinet has agreed to consult on the draft Thanet Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (TCWIP). The draft Plan is the consolidation of nearly three years’ work on developing a potential network of cycling and walking routes in the District, and this report sets out the need for, and a recommendation to undertake, wider public consultation on the draft Plan.
