About

The Cabinet is Thanet Council's executive decision-making body, responsible for leading and guiding all executive functions within specific portfolio areas. Cabinet Members provide leadership, review policy effectiveness, and oversee budgets to ensure alignment with the Council's financial strategy. They also make recommendations on new policies, funding bids, and contract awards, and endorse service plans to meet corporate objectives. While individual Cabinet Members can make decisions within their delegated authority, any matter affecting more than one portfolio area must be referred to the full Cabinet for a decision. Urgent decisions can be made by a portfolio holder if they cannot wait for a Cabinet meeting, subject to consultation with the Leader.
