Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday 9th September, 2025 7.00 pm

Councillor Tony Vourou, Chair of the Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee, welcomed attendees to the meeting, where the subcommittee discussed a range of topics, including youth services, school planning, elective home education, and family services. The committee noted the progress of several task and finish groups and reviewed the Cabinet Forward Plan.

The Barnet Children's Partnership Board met on 2 September 2025 to discuss the future of the board, updates to the youth strategy, and children's social care reforms. The board was also scheduled to discuss verbal input from young people, and review the forward work programme and action tracker.

The meeting of the Council of the London Borough of Barnet on 8 July 2025 was scheduled to cover a range of topics, including motions on national gambling reform, housing, and climate change, as well as reports from various committees and officers. Councillors were also expected to discuss a deputation regarding EV charging points.

Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Wednesday 11th June, 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-committee met to discuss corporate parenting reports, a family services quarterly update, task and finish group updates, and the cabinet forward plan. The committee noted the corporate parenting reports, which included updates on the Children in Care Council, fostering services, and the Independent Reviewing Service. Members also discussed the family services quarterly update and the task and finish group updates, and they identified the kinship policy for pre-decision scrutiny.
