The Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss updates on the Wheat Street development in Nuneaton and the Resourcing to Risk programme for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS). Warwickshire County Council's cabinet has approved the submission of a proposal for a single unitary authority to the government, following a full council debate on 14 October 2025. The proposal, detailed in Appendix 1 for Unitary Local Government in Warwickshire Submission of Full Proposals, will be submitted by 28 November 2025. The cabinet also addressed concerns and misconceptions raised during previous discussions, particularly those related to the financial implications and the impact on local communities.

Regulatory Committee - Tuesday 4 November 2025 10.30 am

The Warwickshire County Council Regulatory Committee met to discuss a diversion order for a public footpath, and to note the delegated decisions that had been made since their last meeting. The committee voted to send the diversion order for public footpath T9 in Middleton to the Secretary of State for confirmation.

Cabinet - Thursday 16 October 2025 1.45 pm

Warwickshire County Council's cabinet convened to discuss and make decisions on a range of issues, including a developer-funded highway scheme, proposed changes to home-to-school transport, healthy lifestyle services, and the community safety agreement. The cabinet approved recommendations for all agenda items, each of which will be subject to call-in.

Extraordinary Meeting, County Council - Tuesday 14 October 2025 10.00 am

The Warwickshire County Council convened to bestow the title of Honorary Freeman of the County upon Councillor Jerry Roodhouse in recognition of his decades of public service. This rare honour, the highest civic distinction the council can award, acknowledges Councillor Roodhouse's significant contributions to the community, particularly in Rugby, and his work on behalf of Warwickshire at a national level. The council voted unanimously to approve the recommendation, and a ceremonial presentation will be arranged at a later date.
