Place and Environment Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 2 April 2026 - 6.30 pm

The Place and Environment Scrutiny Committee of North Northamptonshire Council met on Thursday 2nd April 2026 to discuss the Highways Annual Plan and contract extension, the Empty Homes Strategy, and the Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Strategy. The committee requested updates on highways data and performance monitoring, and explored the feasibility of devolving powers for road defect repairs to town and parish councils. Extraordinary meeting, Council - Wednesday 18th March, 2026 6.00 pm, NEW

The Council has approved the submission of an Expression of Interest to create a Foundation Strategic Authority for Northamptonshire, in collaboration with West Northamptonshire Council. This decision was made to ensure the area benefits from devolution and secures greater powers and investment.

Health Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 17 March 2026 - 7.00 pm

The Health Scrutiny Committee met on Tuesday 17 March 2026 to discuss the Orchard Project's dementia research, substance misuse needs in North Northamptonshire, and Disabled Facilities Grants. The committee endorsed the ongoing progress of the Orchard Project, noted the updated substance misuse strategy and new service model, and approved the continued provision of Disabled Facilities Grants.

Scrutiny Management Board - Monday 16th March, 2026 7.00 pm

The Scrutiny Management Board of North Northamptonshire Council met on Monday 16 March 2026 to approve a new tool for assessing and prioritising scrutiny items and to adopt the latest iteration of the Scrutiny Work Programme for 2025-26. The Board also agreed to the creation of a joint scrutiny panel to examine the Highways Contract.

Key decisions also included the approval of the Corporate Parenting Strategy, a vital framework for supporting children in care and care-experienced young people, and the adoption of the Pay Policy Statement for 2026/27, a statutory requirement for transparency in council remuneration.
