Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 4 November 2025 6.00 pm

The Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee meeting on 4 November 2025 reviewed the council's Quarter 2 financial forecast, noting a projected overall overspend of £14.5 million across the General Fund, Dedicated Schools Grant, and Housing Revenue Account. The committee also discussed the emerging Procurement Strategy, including a new definition of local suppliers, and the draft Social Value Policy, which aims to embed social value across all council activities. Additionally, the committee received updates on the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in Brent and the council's work programme.

Corporate Parenting Committee - Monday 13 October 2025 5.30 pm

The Brent Council Corporate Parenting Committee met to discuss the progress of several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children in care and care leavers. The committee reviewed reports on reducing criminalisation, adoption services, and fostering services, as well as hearing updates from Brent Care Journeys 2.0 (BCJ 2.0). The committee agreed to note the reports.

Council - Monday 15 September 2025 6.00 pm

At a meeting of Brent Council, councillors debated topics ranging from local traffic concerns to international relations, and also reviewed the council's finances. The council approved a motion to push for visitor levy powers, but voted down motions on street cleaning and illegal immigration.

Planning Committee - Wednesday 10 September 2025 6.00 pm

The Brent Council Planning Committee met on Wednesday 10 September 2025, and approved the change of use of a vacant bank to an adult gaming centre, and refused permission for a new dwelling due to design concerns. Councillor Saqib Butt, Vice-Chair of the committee, chaired the meeting in the absence of Councillor Matt Kelcher.

The Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the establishment of a budget scrutiny task group, and to review the Brent local plan. The committee agreed to establish a budget scrutiny task force, and discussed the scope, approach, and governance of the local plan review, including housing targets, climate change, and community engagement.
