Councillors also debated a controversial motion on asylum seekers, which was ultimately defeated, and showed strong support for keeping professional rugby in Cardiff.

Cardiff Council's cabinet approved a refreshed advertising and sponsorship policy, responded to the Panel Performance Assessment, and agreed to proceed with proposals to extend the age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof. The cabinet also received reports on the visitor levy, the well-being report, the digital strategy, budget monitoring, the budget strategy, and the annual property plan.

Interviews, Appointments Committee, Assistant Director, Adult Services - Thursday, 4th September, 2025 10.00 am

The Appointments Committee for the Assistant Director of Adult Services at Cardiff Council met on 4 September 2025 to interview a candidate for the position. Following the interview, the committee voted to appoint Louise Bassett as Assistant Director of Adult Services. The committee also confirmed that the selection process was conducted fairly and in accordance with the council's appointment processes.

Shortlisting, Appointments Committee, Assistant Director, Adult Services - Wednesday, 27th August, 2025 11.30 am

The Appointments Committee for the Assistant Director of Adult Services met to consider the shortlisting of candidates for the post. Prior to this meeting, the committee had convened on 17 July 2025 to review four applications and identify candidates for assessment. At this meeting, they considered the results of the assessment centre and agreed on the candidates to be included in the final stage of the process.
