Children and Families Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Families Scrutiny Committee met on 10 September 2025, and discussed the Waltham Forest Youth Justice Annual Plan, the Family Hubs Programme, and the Scrutiny Report. The committee requested a report on improvements to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and agreed to add items on child sexual exploitation and the rationalisation of the school estate to their forward plan.

Council - Thursday, 17th July, 2025 7.30 pm

Waltham Forest Council met on 17 July 2025, and after observing a moment of silence for the victims of the 7/7 attacks and others, councillors discussed a range of issues including play and community spaces, the borough's financial situation, and parking fees. A motion to support and improve play opportunities for children was passed, and several appointments to committees and outside bodies were agreed.

The Children and Families Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to meet on 1 July 2025 to discuss the findings of a recent inspection regarding special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) arrangements in Waltham Forest, and to review the committee's forward plan for the coming year. The committee was also scheduled to review action trackers from previous meetings.

Annual Meeting, Council - Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 7.30 pm

The Waltham Forest Council meeting scheduled for 22 May 2025 included the election of a new Mayor, the appointment of councillors to various committees and outside bodies, and a review of the council's scheme of delegation. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss the programme of meetings for the upcoming year.

Children and Families Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 30th April, 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Families Scrutiny Committee were scheduled to meet on 30 April 2025 at Waltham Forest Town Hall to discuss the Waltham Forest Catering Service's Service Level Agreement (SLA) with schools, and to review the action and recommendation trackers. Councillor Yusuf Patel, Chair of the Committee, was expected to chair the meeting. This was scheduled to be the final meeting for the municipal year, and the committee were expected to suggest items for the 2025/26 draft work programme for the incoming committee.
