Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee - Friday, 5 December 2025 10.00 am

The Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee met to discuss the draft budget for 2026-27, the performance of the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, and the impact of the Your Fund Surrey initiative. The committee requested a written briefing on the community budget reconfiguration, committed to including the updated community risk profile in future packs, and requested that any efficiency savings do not detrimentally impact the Greener Futures programme.

Cabinet - Tuesday, 25 November 2025 2.00 pm

The Surrey County Council cabinet met to discuss the 2026/27 draft budget, schools and early years funding, changes to adult social care charging policies, and the climate change delivery plan. The cabinet approved the draft budget for 2026/27, which includes a proposed council tax increase of 2.99%, alongside a 2% precept for social care, and also approved a number of property disposals. The cabinet also endorsed the coordinated admissions scheme for September 2027, and recommended the scheme to the County Council for approval.

Cabinet - Tuesday, 28 October 2025 2.00 pm

The Surrey County Council cabinet met to discuss the government's reorganisation of local government in Surrey, which will see the county's 12 councils replaced with two unitary councils in April 2027, and to address a number of other issues including a petition against the booking system trial at Camberley and Lyne Recycling Centres, and the expansion of the Woodland School. The cabinet also approved an increase in the net revenue budget of £1.274.8 million due to additional public health funding.

Council - Tuesday, 14 October 2025 10.00 am

The meeting of Surrey Council included discussion of the Surrey Youth Justice Plan 2025/26, questions from councillors to cabinet members, and briefings from cabinet members. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss the minutes from previous meetings of the council and the cabinet.

The Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee met to discuss Surrey County Council's performance, the local nature recovery strategy, and the climate change delivery plan. The committee requested additional information on electric vehicle charging points, supported continued monitoring of areas with low broadband coverage, and sought assurances that climate change initiatives would continue during the transition to a unitary authority. The committee also agreed to review measurable targets related to the local nature recovery strategy at a future meeting.
