Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth Decisions - Tuesday, 29 October 2024 12.00 pm
Surrey County Council has decided not to alter the speed limit on the A30 Egham Bypass, or to introduce average speed cameras, following a petition signed by 317 people. The Council did however confirm that they are planning to introduce a new Toucan crossing[^2] on the bypass near the junction with Hummer Road as part of the Runnymede Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)[^3].
Cabinet - Tuesday, 29 October 2024 2.00 pm
The Cabinet voted to reject the London Road Active Travel Scheme and to approve a grant of £800,000 to build a new village hall in Rowledge. The meeting also considered the Council’s financial position, its response to the report from the Additional Needs and Disabilities Parent Carer Experience Task Group, and a report from the Surrey Safeguarding Adults Board.
Farnham Board - Friday, 18 October 2024 10.00 am
The meeting was scheduled to discuss a range of transport schemes that have been, are being, or are scheduled to be implemented in Farnham. These schemes are intended to improve the town centre, reduce traffic, and encourage cycling and walking. The board was also scheduled to receive an update on the proposed A31 corridor improvements.

The meeting started with a statement from the Leader of the Council, Councillor Tim Oliver OBE, and a statement from the Leader of the Liberal Democrat group, Councillor Paul Follows. The Council then approved the appointment of Andy Brown as the Section 151 Officer, the absence of Councillor David Lewis from Council meetings, amendments to the constitution, and noted the annual report of the Audit and Governance Committee. A debate was held on an original motion to tackle the increasing problem of motorcycles parking on pavements, which was passed. Another original motion proposed making Surrey County Council an “End Poverty” Council was passed after the rejection of an amendment to commit the Council to not reducing funding for charities that tackle poverty. Finally the Council noted the recommendations of the Communities, Environment and Highways select committee on the referral of a motion on plant based meals.
Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth Decisions - Tuesday, 24 September 2024 12.00 pm
Surrey County Council will increase the charges it levies for the suspension of bus stops. The Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth also approved the Integrated Transport Schemes that will be funded by the council in 2025/26, and heard representations from local residents about road safety and maintenance issues.

Devolution And Local Government Reorganisation Update

...to progress Surrey's Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation (D&LGR) programme, the Cabinet agreed to determine the requirements for a Combined Fire and Rescue Authority and to seek government agreement on debt support for Woking and Spelthorne Borough Councils, ensuring the future West Surrey Unitary Council is not burdened by predecessor council asset sales and that the debt situations are resolved before the summer recess in 2026.
