Hackney Procurement Board - Tuesday 14 April 2026 2.00 pm
The Hackney Procurement Board was scheduled to discuss several key procurement strategies and contract awards. These included proposals for integrated early pregnancy and infant feeding support services, the recommissioning of vehicle removal and car pound services, and the procurement of new IT systems for parking and markets services. The board was also set to consider the establishment of a new contract for public space surveillance and optical fibre cable installation and maintenance, as well as the use of a dynamic purchasing system for adult skills funding.

The Commission considered two reports, one on trust and confidence in local policing and the second on serious violence and gang crime in the borough. After presentations by senior officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Hackney Council, the Commission asked questions on the issues raised and the plans in place to address them. The Commission ended the meeting with a question and answer session with Councillor Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Regulatory Services.

The contract will be procured by the London Borough of Camden for up to five years, with Hackney contributing a maximum of £1.3 million for five places. The Board also approved commencing a competitive procurement process for vehicle removal and car pound services, structured into two lots. Kam Sandhu-Shinger will provide a briefing on insourcing Lot 2, and Kam Sandhu-Shinger and Gallal Muflahi will engage with the social value team to structure measurable requirements for the ITT.
