Audit and Risk Committee - Tuesday, 28th January, 2025 7.00 pm
The Audit and Risk Committee approved Islington’s Council Tax Base for 2025-26, approved changes to polling districts in Caledonian Ward, and noted a range of reports on the council's financial position, including the risks to delivering a balanced budget in 2025-26.
Special Meeting on Thames Water, Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 23rd January, 2025 7.30 pm
The Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee met with representatives from Thames Water to discuss a range of issues relating to the company's operations in the borough. The committee heard details of the company's plans to improve water quality and reduce leakage, as well as its contingency measures for service interruptions. The committee also questioned the company's customer service record and its plans to increase customer bills. The committee asked Thames Water to return in 12 months' time to update it on the company's progress.

The Licensing Sub Committee B of Islington Council met on 7 January 2025 to consider two new licence applications. The committee refused the application for Doppio Zero, Ground Floor Cafe, 4 Gillespie Road, London, N5 1LN, and adjourned the decision for Chicken Cottage Holloway Road, 169 Holloway Road, London, N7 8LX.

At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.
