Planning Committee - Monday, 3rd March, 2025 7.30 pm
The Planning Committee approved the application to redevelop 48 Chiswell Street. As part of their decision the Committee amended Condition 27 of the planning decision to ensure that part of the development's roof could not be used as a terrace. They also secured a commitment from the applicant to meet them halfway
and increase their contribution to the Council's Affordable Workspace scheme from £2,875,000 to £2,937,500.
Budget Meeting, Council - Thursday, 27th February, 2025 7.15 pm
Islington Council agreed a balanced budget for 2025/26, set the level of council tax, and discussed the provision of public toilets in the borough.
Audit and Risk Committee - Tuesday, 18th February, 2025 7.30 pm, NEW
The Committee approved the council's statement of accounts for 2023-24, as well as the Pension Fund accounts, and were satisfied with the Auditor's Annual Report and Value for Money conclusions. The Committee noted the decision to end the shared Internal Audit service with Camden, and discussed the future work plan for the Committee.
Audit and Risk Committee - Tuesday, 28th January, 2025 7.00 pm
The Audit and Risk Committee approved Islington’s Council Tax Base for 2025-26, approved changes to polling districts in Caledonian Ward, and noted a range of reports on the council's financial position, including the risks to delivering a balanced budget in 2025-26.
Council - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 7.15 pm
At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.
