Licensing Regulatory Committee - Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025 7.15 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 14 May 2025 included the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker, and decisions on the make-up of committees for the municipal year. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was elected as the new speaker, and Councillor Bellal Uddin as deputy speaker. The council also voted to adopt an independent chair for the Audit Committee and re-adopted the council's constitution.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss children's safeguarding, educational attainment at Key Stage 5[^2], and free school meals. The sub-committee agreed to submit a report on free school meals to the Mayor and Cabinet for consideration.

Councillor Shahaveer Shubo Hussain, Chair of the licensing subcommittee, opened the meeting to discuss a new premises licence for Vittoria Wharf Studios and a variation to the Club Premise Certificate for Globe Town Community Association. No decisions were made at the meeting, and the decision deadline was extended for these applications, as well as for Feast Express, Asia Villa and Power League Paddle.
Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Strategic Development Committee met to discuss two planning applications. Permission was granted for the demolition of Clare House and the construction of new residential dwellings and community floor space. Councillors also approved the erection of east and west extensions to the existing Global Switch House.
