Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Thursday, 5th December, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee held a meeting on Thursday 05 December 2024 where they discussed the provision of school places in the borough, the corporate parenting strategy, and mental health provision for children and young people. No decisions were made at this meeting.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 26th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee approved the appointment of Alia Begum to the Health and Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee. The committee also approved the Scrutiny Executive Protocol and took note of reports from the Chief Executive and the Cabinet Member for Environment and the Climate Emergency, as well as updates from the scrutiny leads.

Strategic Development Committee - Monday, 25th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The committee made two decisions. It refused to grant permission for the proposed construction of student accommodation at 7 Brannan Street. It decided to grant permission to amend the operating hours of the Blackwall Way Yard Jetty. The committee also elected a new Chair for part of the meeting.

Council - Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 7.00 p.m.

At this meeting, the council debated three petitions from members of the public and two motions proposed by the political groups. The council unanimously voted to reject or significantly reduce a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs and unanimously voted to adopt the Migrant Care Workers' Charter. The council also voted to adopt a motion asking for the reintroduction of Meals on Wheels. The council voted to change who chairs the council committees.

Licensing Sub Committee - Tuesday, 19th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence to Club Row Limited for the Knave of Clubs at 1 Club Row subject to a number of conditions. The main point of contention during the meeting was the applicant's request to be allowed to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises.
