Purpose

This report is to advise the Buchan Area
Committee of the recommendations resulting from the petition
received regarding traffic speeds and safety measures in
Longside.

Content

Having highlighted
that the current policy does not allow for consideration in
relation to future planned developments and does not take
cognisance of Place, agreed to refer to a Stage 1 Scrutiny to allow
Officers to provide detail back in respect of following issues
raised (1) that the traffic counts and pedestrian crossing
assessment within Longside should be repeated based on a formula
which takes into consideration future developments in and around
the surrounding area of Longside and which will impact on the
village and (2) to include detail in relation to any accidents that
have happened within the village, not just those that are
reportable through Police Scotland.
Further agreed to
welcome a report back in relation to the implementation of the
20mph programme to allow evaluation as to whether it has had any
impact within the village.
