Purpose

The Scrutiny and Improvement at Aberdeenshire Guidance in Section 1.6, Part 4A of the Scheme of Governance requires each Committee to consider an Annual Scrutiny and Improvement Report. The report includes highlights of key scrutiny activity undertaken by the Committee over the past year and outlines areas for inclusion in the scrutiny programme for the coming year.

Decision

1. to comment on the activities detailed in the report as follows:

(a) the sheltered housing review highlighted the importance of Area Committee influence;

(b) to note that an informal session with the head teachers of Marr secondary schools had been requested;

(c) the voice of the Area Committees could sometimes be lost when feeding into Policy Committees and future consideration should be given to Area Committees’ powers.

1. to agree the proposed programme of scrutiny activity for 2026/27.
