Agreed to request further
information on:

1.
third sector organisations involved in the
‘Reshaping Care’ work.

2.
whether local lettings initiatives could be
implemented in existing housing or only in new developments;
and

3.
an update on the removal of fireplaces from Council
houses and affected properties in the Marr Area.

Agreed to provide the following
comments to Communities Committee

1.
Highlighted a need for housing to support workers
coming into the area. Suggested providing data on how many houses
were allocated to key workers coming into Aberdeenshire.

2.
Suggested engagement with Economic Development,
Council Services, and local private and public sector employers to
establish housing need in relation to key workers and staff
shortages.

3.
Queried how the Strategy fitted with the housing
emergency declared by the Scottish Government, with particular
emphasis on rural areas.

4.
Raised concerns in relation to heat networks as they
could be expensive for consumers.

5.
Raised concern about reliance on private
developers.  Would like to see the
Council doing more to increase its own housing stock.

6.
Emphasised the need for community communication and
engagement.

7.
Reiterated objection to the removal of fireplaces
from Council houses due to financial impacts, absence of heating in
power outages, and resulting conflict with the health and wellbeing
priority.
