Purpose

The consumer duty came into force on April 1st
2024 with a 12 month implementation period before it comes fully
into effect.

Consumer Scotland has issued guidance for relevant public
authorities on the consumer duty under provisions set out in the
Consumer Scotland Act 2020.

Before issuing guidance, Consumer Scotland must consult relevant
public authorities and other persons as it considers appropriate
and seek the approval of Scottish Ministers.

Consumer Scotland is now consulting on the draft guidance and wants
to hear views from all those public bodies affected, as well as
consumer groups and the public.
