Purpose

The Cabinet will be asked to
approve the procurement strategy in respect of the capital works at
the Valence House heritage site:, including restoration works to
the Medieval North Moat, render investigation and repairs to
Valence House Museum and a range of other repair / improvements to
the buildings at the site.

Content

Cabinet resolved to:
 
(i)  Agree that the
Council proceeds with the procurement of a contract for Works to
Valence House funded by the Museum Estate and Development Fund
(MEND) in accordance with the strategy set out in the report;
 
(ii)  Waive the
requirement to advertise / tender in accordance with clause 35.5(g)
of the Council’s Contract Rules, in order
to obtain tenders from a pre-designated list of specialist
contractors; and
 
(iii)  Authorise the Strategic
Director, Inclusive Growth and Place, in consultation with Cabinet
Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, the Strategic
Director, Resources and the Head of Legal, to conduct the
procurement and award and enter into the contract(s) and all other
necessary or ancillary agreements to fully implement and effect the
proposals.
