Purpose

The current Borough Manifesto was produced in
2016.  Since that time, there have
been significant global and economic changes
which have led to the Borough Manifesto being updated, to take into
account the impacts of these changes on our residents and local
communities.
 
The Cabinet will be asked to
approve ‘Our B&D’, a refreshed place-based vision
for the borough, for consultation.

Content

Cabinet resolved to:
 
(i)  Note the status of
Barking and Dagenham Together (known as the Borough Manifesto) and
the rationale and context for moving to a refreshed Place-based
vision and priority outcomes;
 
(ii)  Note that ‘Our
B&D’, a replacement for the Borough Manifesto, shall set
the strategic direction for the next iteration of the Corporate
Plan, the forthcoming Neighbourhood Plan, and transformation and
partnership working;
 
(iii)  Agree the commencement of
consultation with partners regarding the draft outcomes and
indicators as set out in Appendix 1 to the report; and
 
(iv)  Note that following
consultation, ‘Our B&D’ shall be presented to
Assembly for adoption in September 2025.
