Purpose

As part of the Equality Act
2010, local authorities are required to demonstrate compliance with
the public sector equality duty and to publish Equality
Objectives.  The Cabinet will be asked
to approve the newly developed Equality and Diversity Strategy
which will outline the Council’s commitment and priorities
for equality, diversity and inclusion in Barking and
Dagenham.

Content

Cabinet resolved to:
 
(i)  Approve the Borough
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2025-2029
“Building a Fairer Future Together”, as set out at
Appendix 1 to the report; and
 
(ii)  Note that an annual
progress report on the delivery of the action plan shall be
presented to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
