Purpose

The Cabinet will be asked to
agree the adoption of a Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social
Enterprise Sector (VCFSE) Compact for the Borough, setting out how
the Council and relevant organisations will work together in future
for mutual benefit in order to strengthen the relationships between
the Council and civil society, leading to better, more responsive
services and stronger communities.

Content

Cabinet resolved to:
 
(i)  Endorse the draft
principles and commitments set out in “Stronger Together:
Towards a VCFSE Compact Approach for the Borough”, at
Appendix 1 to the report;
 
(ii)  Agree the proposed
approach of the Council and the VCFSE sector working together over
the course of the next year to develop a more detailed Compact and
action plan, with the appropriate governance to oversee delivery;
and
 
(iii)  Delegate authority to the
Director of Strategy, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for
Community Leadership and Engagement, to agree the final Compact and
action plan with the VCFSE sector and all other necessary
governance or ancillary agreements to fully implement and effect
the proposals.
