Decision

The Council is committed
to tackling health inequalities and acknowledges the significant
influence of social, economic and environmental factors on health.
These are known as the wider determinants of health.  Through the use of Health Impact
Assessments (HIAs)
developers can work with the Council’s Planning and Public
Health teams to ensure that development proposals have fully
considered the wider determinants of health.

This guidance has been developed to provide teams
across the Council as well as developers with advice, information,
and a framework for assessing the health impact of a proposed
development, strategic document or project.

With the Local Plan formally
adopted in March 2025 this is a good time to publish the Guidance
Note to support on the effective implementation of the policies in
the Local Plan.
